 PREMIER LEAGUE

MATCH REPORT FOR TETLEY WALKER V SMRBL 10TH JUNE

Re-arranged game with the Legion coming off the back of an impressive 10.5 - 5 win at the Wheatsheaf the night previously whilst Tetley's were winning 9-6 at home against the Nursery.

With the green in good condition and running pretty well, all was set for a good match with the Legion looking for a result to close the gap on Budenbergs.

The first 4 were all close affairs Carl Armitage getting the better of Carl Parker 21-17 but Parker earning some valuable chalks for his team battling back from 12-3,Chris Heyes continued his impressive run of form by getting the 1.5 points for his side against Chris Ashton again another good result seeing that Heyes was at one point 11-4 down, Chris Macdonald had an almighty struggle with Colin Marshall with the Tetley's man coming out on top 21-20. The last game of the 4 was Martin Bacon playing Paul Clegg, Bacon winning 21-17 leaving the game at 2 winners each but the legion in front by 5 chalks.

The middle 4 games were again tight with the Legion battling to a further 2 winners, Dave Jenkinson beat Kenny Armitage 21-11 whilst Neil Jenkinson had a great game with Stuart Goodwin, 21-18 in favour of the Legion man. Mark Tinning got off to a flyer against Glen Beeley and never looked back during his 21-13 win leaving Ross Wightman and Lee Turner to battle for the points with Wightman earning the verdict 21-18.

4 winners each 7 chalks in it.

The last 2 were Colin Price who played well and deservedly earns MOM for his impressive defeat of Tony Gatley 21-8 and Steve Brown who was the best homester in beating Tommy Johnstone 21-10 "Tombo" had led 6-3 but Brown found a piece just to his liking and stormed into a 14-6 lead and never looked back from there, well played Steve.

So the match went in the favour of the Legion 10.5 - 5 by 9 chalks.

All in all a good couple of nights for the Legion boys with 21 points from 2 very difficult away games.

Thanks for the good banter lads looking forward to the return.

PS. Any other captains interested in bar-staff talent get a Thursday game at Tetley's. ( Miss Worldish!!! )
